Tired Pony is Nothing to Run From

My inner fan girl is freaking out right now. Care to guess why?

No, Jack White hasn’t formed another band (hey, I can dream, right?)

Imagine a world of musical perfection, where members of Snow Patrol, Belle & Sebastian and R.E.M. team up to form a fantastic supergroup.

Dream no more, people, because this one’s a reality.

They’re called Tired Pony and are led by Snow Patrol Singer Gary Lightbody.

Feathers and Flowers

In case you haven’t heard, Brandon Flowers is going solo.

Insert happy dance here.

The first track off his upcoming album, “Flamingo,” was recently leaked, and if you haven’t heard it yet, you need to get on that. Like right now….

The album is set to be released in early fall, and “Crossfire” is the first tasty morsel of what is (hopefully) an amazing record.

Maybe it’s just because I’m partial to cute feather-clad men in the desert, but Flowers works it with or without The Killers.

Song of the Day: “I Was Made For Sunny Days”

Artist: The Weepies

Album: “Be My Thrill,” due late this summer

The Weepies are a duo composed of married couple Deb Talan and Steve Tannen, and they have been playing together since the early 2000s.

You may think you’ve never heard anything by The Weepies before, but chances are you have. That song would most likely be “World Spins Madly On.” However, if that’s the only track of theirs you’ve heard, you are definitely missing out. Allow me to expand your ear candy horizons by sharing “I Was Made For Sunny Days.”

“I was made for sunny days and I was made for you.”

Holy Justin Vernon!

Get ready to do a happy dance, Bon Iver fans.

Justin Vernon hit the stage with Brian Moen the other day to play a show with The Shouting Matches in Wisconsin. The result? A bluesy, effin’ fantastic departure from his usual painfully gorgeous falsetto. Emphasis on the effin’ fantastic part.

Please don’t take my word for it, as you must see this magic for yourself.

With that, I give you The Shouting Matches performance of Son House’s “Death Letter.”

Your Daily Dose of Lee, Doctor’s Orders

In case you missed it, newly crowned Idol Lee DeWyze performed on the Today show yesterday, where he played a stunning acoustic version of U2’s “Beautiful Day.” It’s about 200 times better than the studio version, so I highly recommend watching it…

Well, I’ve just melted into a puddle. You?

Video of the Day: “Take Everything”

Track: “Take Everything”

Artist: Greg Laswell

Californian singer/songwriter Greg Laswell  just released his third studio album, “Take A Bow,” in May.

According to Laswell, his latest effort is unlike previous ones because, “…the biggest difference with this album is that I’m not miserable.”

While his cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and his original song “Goodbye” are some of his best, there’s just something about this video…

Aw, heck. I’m feeling generous, so here’s a bonus track.

“One day I won’t regret this / Oh, how I want to believe that’s true / Once I pick up my parts I broke on you.”

Music That Fits Just as Well as Your Jeans

Personally, I have to place the importance of music in my life before my Levi’s.

However, I must give the company props for its new campaign, “Levi’s Pioneer Sessions: The Revival Recordings,” which allows a diverse group of musicians to select and cover a song that has personally influenced them.
