Song of the day: “Poison & Wine”

Artist: The Civil Wars

Song: “Poison & Wine”

Album: Barton Hollow (2011)

You know when you hear a song for the first time and it’s just so painfully good that you can’t stop listening to it? This is one of those songs.

The Civil Wars is a folk duo composed of Joy Williams and John Paul White (who, by the way, is a dead ringer for Johnny Depp and Jack White’s hypothetical child).

This song comes off of the singer/songwriter-duo’s first full-length album which was released on Feb. 1, 2011.

Do yourself a favor and just listen. Like I said: painfully good.

Vogue: Goth Meets Glam

It seems like whenever Hollywood is ready to be photographed, they go straight to Annie Leibovitz.

The latest batch of camera ready stars? Musician Jack White and his former model/current musician wife Karen Elson.

The couple appear in Vogue’s June 2010 issue in their first (and, according to White, last) photo shoot together.

Not only do White and Elson make a gorgeous couple, but she also makes me feel better about rockin’ the vampire-like skin complexion we share.

Check out a few of the photos below and read an excerpt of the article, “Frock & Roll,” here.

“He’s brilliant because he gets the realness of you.” -Elson on White

Get ready to “Die By The Drop”

The Dead Weather’s highly anticipated sophomore album, “Sea of Cowards,” will be released in just over a month on May 11.

The Dead Weather is Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence

Their first single, “Die By The Drop,” hit iTunes on March 30 and the song’s music video was just unveiled today.

It’s like something out of a Tim Burton movie, as singers Jack Black and Alison Mosshart are clad head to toe in gothic attire, raccoon eyeliner and all.

However, the video was directed by Floria Sigismondi, not Burton. Sigismondi might be on your radar since she directed and wrote the screenplay for the recently released Joan Jett-Cherie Currie biopic, “The Runaways.”  She’s also directed music videos for The White Stripes (another of Jack’s projects), David Bowie and Marilyn Manson.

The video is currently free on iTunes, so you’d be crazy not to go download it.

*UPDATE*

The full version is now online, so check it out!

Vodpod videos no longer available.
