Three reasons why I like Lady Gaga

  1. She’s not afraid to be herself, a.k.a. weird as heck.
  2. Even if you say you aren’t a fan, don’t even pretend like you haven’t had at least one of her songs stuck in your head at one point in your life. They’re catchy. Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah!
  3. Along with the “not afraid to be herself” bit, she encourages everyone else to be themselves.

A Preview: Smash Hits of the Summer

Ahh, the sweet sounds of summer.

Crashing waves, seagulls and… Katy Perry?

Everyone’s got their favorite summer jam, that one song that turns into their anthem for the entire season.

It’s usually something that’s carefree and, in terms of musical ability, is pretty much crap.

Lollapalooza 2010 Announcement

The lineup for Chicago’s Lollapalooza was revealed this morning and includes headliners like Lady Gaga, Green Day, Phoenix and The Strokes.

The festival lasts for three days from August 6 to 8 in Grant Park.

Tickets are going fast… the Early Bird 3-Day Pass ($175) and Advance 3-Day Pass ($195) are already sold out.  A Regular 3-Day pass will cost you $215 and is still available.

There are also ridiculously expensive VIP and travel packages, in case you’ve got a spare $850 to $2499 burning a hole in your pocket.

Tickets are on sale at the Lollapalooza website.

I’m kind of seriously considering taking the train over for this… I mean, how many times can you see The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, Rogue Wave and Hockey in one place?

That’s what I thought.

You popped my heart seams on my bubble dreams, bubble dreams

This clip is a few days old, but I still can’t get enough of Lady Gaga performing “Speechless” on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

One of the many reasons I love Lady Gaga is that she sounds just as amazing performing live as she does on her CD.  This is sort of rare with musicians today, since a lot of them lip sync when they perform live. (*AHEM* Janet Jackson at the AMAs *COUGH*).

Check out the clip here and Gaga’s new CD, “The Fame Monster,” on iTunes.

“I can’t believe how you looked at me/With your James Dean glossy eyes/In your tight jeans and your long hair/And your cigarette stained lies.”

Countdown to the 2009 AMAs

What do Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and the Black Eyed Peas have in common?

All three will perform LIVE at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. for the American Music Awards tonight.

AMA winners are determined by online voting and honor artists in rock music, country and everything in between.

Janet Jackson will open the show with an eight minute performance, while Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna will also take the stage to showcase their talent.

Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson have the most nominations this year, with six and five, respectively.  Both are up for the coveted “Artist of the Year” award.

Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga and Eminem are also nominees in the same category.

The 37th American Music Awards air tonight, Nov. 22, on ABC at 8 p.m.

I’ll have more AMA updates for you after the show, but for now I will leave you with the following preview:
